Scenario:

  • Set up “Table A” for masterdata synchronization between “Company A” (source) and “Company B” (subsidiary)
  • “Table A” is set up with “Overwrite local changes = FALSE”
  • “Table A” is set up with the following fields for synchronization:
  • “Field 1”, with “Overwrite local changes = TRUE”
  • “Field 2”, with “Overwrite local changes = TRUE”
  • “Field 3”, with “Overwrite local changes = TRUE”
  • “Field 4”, with “Overwrite local changes = TRUE”
  • “Field 5”, with “Overwrite local changes = FALSE

Process:

a) For a given “Record A”, “Field 1” through “Field 5” in “Table A” is successfully synchronized from “Company A” to “Company

B” for a first time synchronization

b) The following changes are then made in “Company B” (subsidiary)

  • Make any change to “Field 1”
  • Make any change to “Field 2”
  • Make any change to “Field 3”
  • Make any change to “Field 4”
  • Make any change to “Field 5

c) Then the following changes are made in “Company A” (source)

  • Make any change to “Field 1”
  • Make any change to “Field 2”
  • Make any change to “Field 3”
  • Make any change to “Field 4”
  • NO change to “Field 5” (or make a change, it doesn’t really matter for the outcome. But making no change makes my point even more clear)

d) “Record A” is triggered to synchronize again

Result/issue:

  • Synchronization of the whole “Record A” will fail in “Company B”, because local change was made to “Field 5” after the first (last/previous) synchronization
  • This means that all other synchronization fields also will fail (not be synchronized)
  • It should be expected that “Field 1” through “Field 4” of “Record A” would be synchronized given their “Overwrite local changes = TRUE”
  • It seems highly illogical that the whole record fails to be synchronized, just because one of many fields are set to “Overwrite local changes = FALSE”
